Background & Bio

I graduated from the University of Malta in 2000 with a degree in Education and immediately joined an educational institution for Special Educational Needs. Here I started learning about web design and accessibility as part of an EU project the entity was managing at the time.

I put my newly acquired web design skills to good use by freelancing as a web consultant and designer for a couple of years and in 2004 started learning web programming to extend my web skills into content management systems and eCommerce.

I worked as a part-time independent web designer and consultant for the larger agencies in Malta including JPA, TBWA ANG, Lighthouse, Ogilvy Malta. This is where my interest in marketing became a neccessity. Old school marketing executives did not understand web technologies so I accompanied them to meetings as a consultant to help shape the client's requirement into a website that actually generates business.

In the mornings I also worked as a trainer, designing and delivering ‘Train the trainer’ courses for teachers in web design, accessibility software technologies and hardware .

In 2008 I co-founded Defined Branding with my (now) husband and was pregnant with my daughter when the company opened its doors. I joined as a web developer at first garnering a stronger interest in business strategy, social media and online marketing as time went by. This was a natural progression as researching and learning about online tools is somewhat a strange passion that has served me well.

For the last 8 years my main work at Defined Branding included mostly Web Project management, Content Marketing campaigns and One to One content marketing coaching. In the last 18 months I also created the content for profit online signature course for people who didn’t want to take the self-paced option.
